THIRD ANNUAL MARINE CORPS TRIALS COMING TO CAMP PENDLETON

CAMP PENDLETON —More than 250 wounded warriors are scheduled to compete in archery, shooting, wheelchair basketball, volleyball, swimming, cycling, and track and field at the third annual Marine Corps Trials here March 1-6, with an opening ceremony Feb. 28.The U.S. Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment will host the trials as four teams will be comprised of Marines, veterans and international service members.”The athletes will learn skills that will enable them to be highly successful not only at the trials and games but in their future endeavors,” said Jennifer Sullivan, who manages the regiment’s Warrior Athlete Reconditioning Program.Fifty Marines from the trials will be selected to represent the Marine Corps at the 2013 Warrior Games at the U.S. Olympic Complex and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 11-17, 2013. This event brings together wounded, ill and injured services members from each branch to participate in a Paralympic-style competition.
